our holiday motto

we are sticking to our new lifestyle motto this holiday season: simple is better.  remember this post?  oh, and this one too?  there is a resounding theme deep rooted in each of these posts that reflects one simple truth we are trying our best to live by: less is always more.  

with the holidays being right around the corner, it's easy to find excuses to fill our lives with many, many things.  i mean, target right now just begs to be stared at and glared at with all its holiday flare and pretty soon without even being aware of it, your cart is full of random odds and ends exuding loads thanksgiving/christmas pride.  am i right?  

in light of our new much smaller space, we are going to keep it quite simple this year.  a few pumpkins here and there a wee but of greenery and some lit candles.  yep.  that should about do it for our thanksgiving table.  

and as for christmas?  well first of all, we will needing to baby-proof our tree so simple is indeed the route we will take.  

this year, we are going to be making our gift tags, tree garland, ornaments, and holiday gifts to add a lovely homemade effect (and save a little cash, too).  and what a fun way to spend a blustery afternoon with your loves?  i say, put on some music and craft away!

i know decorating is fun, but that doesn't mean you have to go out and spend tons of money trying to make your home feel like it's got the holiday spirit.

i suggest we all spend our time and money with our families and not out shopping.  we should be in our sweats playing board games, reading colorful holiday books together, teaching our little ones to cook some savory meals, and focus on getting creative when it comes to holiday decor.  

here are some ideas i've gathered for some inexpensive noel DIY's to start working on with my loves.  this weekend we are going to make a holiday wreath.
