sugar cookies with nana

sugar cookies are the essence of christmas, no?  all that glittery sugar and too sweet frosting and colorful yumminess mingled into one afternoon is as festive at festive gets.  being the seasoned baker that she is, stella tried her hand at sugar cookies with her nana a few moons back.  the mess was substantial and the endless pecking at raw cookie dough was awfully abundant, but oh was it fun.  i loved taking peeks through my lens at these two working away, rolling the dough, cutting out holiday shapes, and sprinkling too much red sugar in one pronounced spot smack dab in the middle of a freshly frosted blue star.  since this afternoon spent with nana, we've started and ended each day with a sugar cookie.  i firmly believe that's how this lovely month of december should be.  a not-so-heahty rise and shine with all things sugar because jolly old saint nick would want us to.  obviously.  and tomorrow, my babes and i are going to deliver these goodies to some of our loved ones around the city because nothing says "merry christmas, we love you!" like homemade cookies.

*thank you nana for helping us spread christmas cheer and for the lovely memories you made with my stella bear.
