snippets // our dining room

our dining room is such a happy room in our home.  it is our hearth.  our gathering place.  it's where we savor meals and where we pray.  it is most always flooded with beautiful light and the soothing voices of simon and garfunkle.  this space most reflects both of our design styles and we love it so.  andrew picked out our glass dining table to give our small space a more open feel since you have to pass through it to get to both the bedrooms and kitchen.  the chairs are super fun and we switch them around all the time to give our table a new look.  i added some vintage touches with local flea market finds, such as the green pitcher, white and black vintage cabinet, and woven basket.  and as for the yellow table, well we surprisingly found her the dumpster in need of a happy coat of paint!  i recently made our dining room light which adds some industrial elements into this space.  and then there are all the little touches, like plants, baskets, art, candles, and our anthro "w" monogram make it feel cozy and original.  our mini bar (which i bought years ago for $5) holds all of our nice glassware and cloth napkins.  above the bar, we have wall storage for our wine and spirits.  whenever we can store something on the wall, we do!  as you can see, our dining space did not just fall into place in a matter of days.  it took years to put together, thereby creating a one of a kind space we look forward to using every day.

  6. beautiful. my dining room is such a struggle to keep clean (actually, my whole house is) and this inspires me to simplify and to personalize. i LOVE the yellow highchair! I have the same Ikea wall wine holders and Anthropologie fabric letters (daughter's name) that i just hung up in her room today (have had them for a year, sitting in a box!). www.momistabeginnings.com
