a week without our fine fella

so our fine fella has been off in milwaukee on business this week.  the days have gone by like cold honey being drizzled on toast.  you know, slow and all.

it just hasn't been the same without andrew here.  i must confess: i was a bit nervous at the thought of having to work full time this week, take care of stella, and manage to lesson plan for a new unit {we are starting the outsiders, remember that one?!?}, and make sure our man of the house, leon, got the attention he deserves.

andrew is always such great help in the groggy mornings as i rush around, eyelids half open, shoving random papers and computer cords into my bags.  he always gets our little miss up and dressed, coffee  made, and our pup taken out.  i know, i know, i married superman.  so you can see why i was overcome with a sense of panic upon predicting what our week {or mornings, rather} might look like.

but guess what?  we've gotten along better than i would have thought. sure, we both miss him like crazy, but i've learned so much about myself and my little this week.  and on top of that,  the bonding time i've had with baby girl has been something quite special.

last saturday as the sun started to rise, so did two wide-eyes gals who were all jammied up in flannel with their cozy slippers.  our morning spent snuggling on the couch was followed up by a trip to the farmer's market and our local kansas city flea market where i found the most beautiful tin canisters made in italy for a whopping $8!!  there is something to be said for getting to a flea market early, and these canisters are proof of that.

after walking around the market in the crisp morning air, we headed home where i gave into my burning desire to can some homemade salsa and pickle some baby cucumbers.  i suppose it's never too early to start making stocking stuffers, right?  little stella is going to love munching on our pickles come sunday when they should be ready to eat.

and then on the other afternoons after work, we made our way to the park where rides on the slide and gathering sticks were on the agenda.  can you believe how big our little missy is getting?  she's one long-legged lady like her mama and wears her converse better than anyone i know.  talk about melting a mama's heart.  by the way, no one can rock a euro mullet like her either, and i mean no one.  she knows how to represent this midwestern state with that party in the back.  hehe.

so it's friday and our most favorite person comes home today!  tonight we are going to celebrate by going to a gotye concert with some friends.  i am sure lots of kisses, snuggles, and catching up will be had this weekend.  goodness, i cannot wait!
