weekends are wonderful

aren't weekends wonderful? no alarm...getting to crawl back into a warm bed after a 5 am feeding...not having to blow dry your hair...staying up past bedtime (which around here is 10 pm)...taking extra long walks with the dog because you actually have the time...listening to new music you added to your ipod...being home in your slippers to watch the sunset and not driving in rush hour...i could go on.

here are a few ways andrew, stella, leon and i celebrated our weekend:

stella spent a majority of the time teething. everything she could get her hands on went in her mouth.

i am reading steve job's biography. i highly recommend it- he is such a fascinating man!

one thing i love to do on the weekends is soak up the cuddle time during the day when stella gets to nap in my arms. after i pick her up from her sitter's during the work week, she is usually done with naps for the day, so getting to see stella sleep is one of my favorites.

all weekend we read, and read, and read. stella is now able to turn the pages on her cardboard books. smart cookie, that one.

on friday we ventured a few blocks north to westport for dinner at our favorite indian restaurant in kansas city, korma sutra. as always, i got the lamb vindaloo and andrew got chicken goa curry. the chai tea there is splendid as well.

someone likes to burry herself in the covers and play with her bestie, sophie the giraffe.

target run!

on saturday night i went with some coworkers to hamburger mary's for some drag charity bingo. it was a blast, to say the least. thank you melinda rider for the entertainment!

a sunday morning tradition in the watters' home is brunch. we love all things breakfast, so i whipped up some eggs, toast and coffee. stella loved the egg yolk, but was not much a fan of the sweet huckleberry jam. that's ok, it's daddy's favorite so he can have it all to himself.

there is no shortage of playing when it comes to the weekends. stella and daddy had some bonding time while mommy went to the crossroads art district saturday night. he is such an amazing daddy.

weekends allow me the time to make a cappuccino and enjoy it. this tasty treat is not a weekday delight because of the long process it involves. and, let's just say i tend to rush a bit in the morning, only having time for the "click a button and brew" cafe.

last but not least, bath time. stella has always enjoyed baths, from the tiny age of 2 weeks, the warm water has always been soothing and fun for her. now that we have discovered that her bumbo seat works in the tub, she can play and splash around without me having to worry as much about her slipping and falling over.

we hope your weekend was wonderful too! enjoy what is left of it.

  3. I thought that looked like Hamburger Mary's in the pic I saw last night! How fun! And it looks like it went to a very worthy charity~The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. I actually know several people who volunteer for the CCFA.
