celebrating theo with a sip & see
we celebrated our sweet five week old theodore this weekend with a little shindig called a 'sip and see'! our closest family and friends came to our home to officially welcome our baby boy to the world with some bubbly, good food, and of course, delightful conversation. we had an open house for a few hours in the afternoon where guests could help themselves to a mimosa bar and to our table full of goodies. i chose to keep the decor simple with fall blooms, a handmade welcome banner, a message station for his baby book, tea lights in glass jars, and a new cinnamon candle. i enjoy utilizing what we already have when having a party with the addition of a few fun touches. i tend to think it makes for a more intimate setting without all the frills and fuss. simple is always better.
if constant napping is the equivalent of having a real blast, mister theo had thee best time at his party. his guests enjoyed getting snuggles in with the occasional and famous theo grunt. stella, on the other hand, did the exact opposite of her little brother and ran around in a princess costume for about six hours straight. bedtime later that evening was interesting, let me tell you, but she loved seeing her nanas and papas and uncles and aunties and best of friends all together under one roof. it rarely happens and is surely a treat for everyone when it does.
in all, the day was lovely. it was relaxing and beautiful. at one point, all of the people we love most in this world were sitting together in our living room, laughing over embarrassing stories and sipping cocktails. it will always warm my heart to host our immediate family for an occasion that requires one to kick off their shoes and curl up to old stories. having them here in our kansas city home to celebrate with us the sweet marrow of life and we shan't forget it. it is the good stuff, and it most definitely leaves its' mark with an everlasting smile and the best possible of memories.
theodore, your party was a hit. and you must know, you are so loved.

I absolutely LOVE this idea. When we had Ethan, we had guests day in and day out for the first couple of weeks and it was so tiring. This is such a sweet idea, and the decor is just lovely!
