snippets // our bedroom

here is my very first post with my brand new birthday camera.  i decided to play around with it while stella napped the other day.  i am a long long way from understanding this beautiful camera of mine, but it sure has been fun fumbling around with the various settings.  i've decided to start up a new series for this little blog called 'snippets' showing you a little bits from our lives, both inside and outside of our home.  i have some plans in the works to simplify things over here on the blog front and want to keep just a few series around to share with you, this being one of them.   

i must say, i am such a visual person.  find so much inspiration for living small, and dwelling in general, on pinterest and online magazines via other's home photographs.  i find enjoyment in getting a sneak peak into people's sweet nooks and crannies through the lens of beautiful photography.   all the different perspectives and ideas on utilizing space makes my creative spirit immensely happy.  i enjoy putting my own twist on ideas i am smitten with online and am always thinking about ways to readjust our home on a budget.  i suppose you could say i thrive on aesthetic change; therefore, our home is constantly evolving and changing depending on the season or new project i have started.  but we love it that way.  

when the flea is really kind to us or i spot something on the side of the road, you can bet our home will look a little different in a few hours.  we are doing out best to save money, so i never spend more than a few dollars unless it is something we use all the time.  like linens.  i tend to buy quality linens.  but to save money and simultaneously cater to my artistic need for aesthetic change, i often arrange the little things in our home like pillows, plants, and photos, etc. on a regular basis to give our space a new feel.  but just like everything, it is all about balance.  when we bring something into our home or change it around  we do our best to balance it out by donate something or moving something to our storage unit.  we are not fans of clutter and simply cannot have too much stuff lying around in this small living space.  it makes things easier to clean, too!

onto snippets from our bedroom.  it's totally not a master suit, but is quite masterful if i do say so myself.  over the past few years, andrew and i have really come into our own regarding personal style.  i feel like where we live currently really reflects us as a couple and truly feels more like a home because of that.  since our bedroom is quite small, it was a fun challenge decorating this space.  like the rest of our home, it mirrors of both of our styles, even though they differ a bit.  our calming room is very simple and clean, which andrew prefers, but has some lived-in artistic elements to suit my taste.
