it's a...

we found out yesterday afternoon that we will be adding a tiny gent to this family!  we are so smitten with this news and are still trying to soak it in.  i mean, a boy!  so wonderful. 

together, the three of us got to see our newest addition on the big screen, kicking and dancing around like it was nobodies business.  i felt him all day long as my students watched a movie on their second to last day of school, so i figured as much for when we would have our sonogram.  i must say, his pokes here and there can bring me to happy tears.  i already have so much love for this beautiful baby boy of ours.

some updates: i am measuring at almost 20 weeks which is about 2 one and a half weeks ahead.  i have posteria placenta as opposed to anterior, which is what i had when stella made her home in my womb.  basically, this means i will be feeling our little man kick and wiggle MUCH more than i his big sister because my placenta is behind the baby rather than in front of him.  he is also positioned quite uncomfortably low in a wee nook.  i am getting giddier with each "he" and "him" that i type, you guys. 

it dawned on me last night after i got the chance to sit down and rest that our littles will be sharing a nursery together as sister AND brother.  it suddenly was so real to me as i pondered our beautiful future.  a tiny gent and little lady growing up together, making messy memories and getting into all sorts of sibling trouble...i can hardly believe it!  

the next few weeks will be spent sorting through stella's newborn clothing and picking out the yellows, greens, neutrals, oranges, and creams.  i am not the biggest fan of our boy only wearing the obviously gendered blue, and it just so happens i am much more of a green gal.  soon enough, we will clear a small space in stella's room for the baby's things we've collected along the way.  this summer i will make a new yarn letter in honor of his very classic name (which we have just decided on!) to go alongside of stella's daring "S" on their nursery wall.     

last night after we put stella to bed, andrew and i talked about the reality of being parents to a boy.  we discussed with wide smiles our dude's future dapper wardrobe, the tiny mohawk he will sport, his first pair of suspenders, and on and on.  to say his dad is quite thrilled to dress his son in bow ties is more than an understatement.  he told me he wants to pick out his first one, and that made me melt.  andrew usually gets stella ready in the morning, so getting his mini-me ready for the day will be such a treat for him.  i am overjoyed that my son will have andrew as his role model.  i am confident he will grow in to a loving young man and gentle husband one day, all thanks to his sweet father. 

as silly as it sounds, we both look forward to stepping on race cars and tripping over train tracks.  we are ready to get the infamous pee in the face when we am changing his diaper.  and we are also ready for this darling boy of ours to ask us if we want to go to the park and kick the soccer ball around.    

there so much goodness in our life right now!
