away we go // westcliffe, colorado

why, hello there!  it seems i have been away for quite sometime.  a combination of yucky cabin fever and our recent trip to the rocky mountains have been the culprit of my hiatus.  but because i have lamented over this cold wintery weather in previous posts, i shall focus on our glorious adventures in colorado.  our vacation was beautiful and oh so calming.  just what this little family needed.  a bit of fresh mountain air does wonders for a person's soul, i'll have you know.  here are some photos of mother nature showing off.  she knows how to strut her stuff, that's for sure.  stella approved.

the three of us took an early plane ride a few states over and stayed in this little log cabin.  we were high, high up where the pine trees wear snow dresses and elk roam wildly: mountain life at its best.  it was nothing short of magical.  our daily routine consisted of watching movies, daily hikes, elk calling, fire building, long naps, board games, strutting around in new cowgirl boots (stella, mostly), racing outside, and indulging in carry out pizza and sorbet.  andrew and i decided to not partake in any touristy mountain things for this trip.  rest and relaxation was all we wanted and needed, truth be told.  colorado, you rock.  (pun always intended.)  ;)

  3. Looks like such a fun trip! And Stella looks so fabulous in that dress and boots. I love the rustic feel of the photographs. Thank you for this little glimpse into your vacation. I'd like to read a post about traveling/vacationing with a toddler. Just an idea ;)
