five of my favs: ikea edition

every now and then i am going to share with you five of my favorite things from all over places and spaces.  these lists of five will be include goodies from stores i love to areas in our home i think are quite dandy.  it's pretty hard for me to narrow things down to just five, but it's a solid number, and it's less than ten.  so here goes.

this first post is dedicated to IKEA.  those scandinavians sure do know a thing or two.  {except for that whole outrageously expensive shipping thing and the fact that the nearest one is eight hours away.  they really do need to work that out because this mama needs some IKEA lovin' right about now!}  so, where were we.  oh, IKEA, how i love thee?  let me count the ways...

let me start by saying i simply adore their section for kiddos.  it's whimsical, practical, colorful, and super affordable, with a touch of vintage that i just can't find anywhere else!  when andrew and i went on our babymoon to chicago, we hit up IKEA reeeal hard for all things stella.

#1 their toys are beyond splendid.  they are wooden and old school and beautiful.  these toys are almost too pretty to play with, the key word being almost, because they are indeed stella's favorite toys {when she is not playing with cords}.

#2 other kiddo-room accents like the sheepskin rug you see above {and in about every other post such as this one} & this mini rattan armchair are also favorite items of mine in stella's nursery.  {i spy a sleeping stella!}

sidebar: i cannot wait to get baby girl a mini kitchen when she is a little older.  those little felt veggies and fruit are waiting patently in her closet to be played with!

#3 onto lighting.  i love the warm glow that these lamps exude in our home.  i swear one of the first things i do when getting home from work is turn on about six lamps/dim lighting/candles.

#4 i'm obsessed with this magnetic knife/spice rack in our kitchen.  so essential if you use red pepper flakes in everything, like moi.

#5 art.  so did you know that IKEA not only sells canvas art, they sell gustav klimt canvas art?!  why yes they do, and boy is it beautiful.

cheers and many mercis to IKEA for making many of my decorating dreams come true!

p.s we also got our changing table there too (as you can see sleeping stella on in this post} and love it.  well, shoot. i think that means i broke the rules and told you six instead of five.
